In winter, “The Thinker” by Auguste Rodin, who has flanked the entrance of Kunsthalle Bielefeld since its opening in 1968, will go on tour as a loan.
In exchange, the internationally renowned Canadian artist Jeff Wall (*1946) is showing “The Thinker” (1986) and “The Giant” (1992), two works that reflect thinking itself. Wall, known for his monumental, staged photographs in light boxes, creates narrative compositions in both works that address the role of the artist and art in society, the power of thought and knowledge, or even role models.
